Advice about leaving dog at home?

Okay I asked a while ago for some advice regarding this but got attacked by a bunch of coots. I want to be clear this time. In my country it is not that common to have dogs trained because it is way too expensive for common people. Secondly, there are no kennels and pet nannies. Thirdly, I believe leaving my dog with neighbors will make him even more stressed because he hates the neighbors.

I love my dog and am very concerned but I am going on a family vacation this weekend, for a maximum of 36 hours. I am planning to leave him lots of food and water. He is not the type of dog who gobbles everything up until he gets sick. He is very intelligent. He also has access to our yard. And I've made sure he will not run into trouble as I've secured all the electricity outlets and put away all the electrical wires. My only concern is his feeling lonely. I don't have relatives where I can leave him, and my friends are too far away and are very busy working. I need real advice. Please do not attack me and call me a dog abuser. you do not know how much i love my dog.

i am going on this family vacation because my mother and brother who have been through some very tough time really deserves it. i love my dog but i also love my family. Oh, and I can't bring my dog along because we are only hiring a van (we're not rich, okay) and the owner won't permit us to bring dogs along. Also, here in our country most establishments, including resorts, don't allow dogs in. so that is not an option. this is the first vacation i am going to take in 15 years, so for all those who called me selfish and a dog abuser, and said i don't deserve a dog, please shut up.Advice about leaving dog at home?
Well, maybe you could just have a neighbor come and check, not having to do anything with the dog to stress it out. Just to make sure there are no problems. I would rather that it not be left alone without supervision, because you never know what will happen. He could be fine, but better be safe than sorry.Advice about leaving dog at home?
Is there any way a neighbour can look in on him once or twice a day?

I understand you love your dog, but if something were to happen while you were away I don't think you would ever forgive yourself.

Please try and find someone to check on him.
To teach your puppy how to settle down calmly and quietly when you are absent, start by teaching him to settle down with a chewtoy at times when you are present.

im really sorry that people were so rude to you. i don't think there is anything wrong with you leaving your dog there for the weekend. i was going to go to a hotel with my husband that is an hr away for a weekend and we have 3 dogs and we were going to leave them home alone too. if you have a chance to get a water feeder that will be really good. i have one and i will give you a link so what they look like in case you don't know. other than that if you leave out toys and like 4 bones you dog will really like that. every morning before i go to work i leave each one a dog treat. i hope no one can get in your yard because i would be really scared of that! i leave me dogs inside the whole time im gone and i lay down dog pads in a large area where they can pee and poop. if you have a tv you can leave that on, i leave my tv on for my pets also. if you have an specific questions you can email me. iheart_mybabies@ymail.com
I trained my dog myself. Sure I took him to a class...BUT the majority of it I did myself..which was FREE. In my mind..there are really no excuses for not training. It can be done by yourself...completely free.

There are many things to think of. At the very least I would have SOME sort of supervision while you are gone.

You really have to ask yourself WHAT IF.

What if he got sick?

What if he was out in the yard and got stolen?

What if he was tormented by passers-by while out in the yard?

What if he gets ahold of something else that you accidentally passed by in your inspection of the house?

What if he escapes from the yard? I know that this is unlikely but you have to take in the out of the ordinary when you are gone.

I don't think you are abusive and you do want the best for your pet but make sure that you have SOME sort of supervision lined up.

Ask your neighbors to keep an eye on him. Or ask them to come over and feed him while you are gone.

Make sure you have his collar and tags with identification on him at all times. Also take a new photo of him so you have it JUST IN CASE anything were
