Advice about losing weight?

I am a 27 year old, 6' tall woman, currently 225 lbs.

I would like to get down to 140 lbs(the minimum healthy weight for my height) by eating as healthy as possible.

I looked on a food guide pyramid website and discovered that a (low activity) 6', 140lb woman should eat 2000 calories a day to maintain that weight.

I have 2 questions:

1. If I eat 2000 healthy calories a day, how long will it take to reach 140lbs?

2. Is it even going to happen?

It seems hard to believe I can eat 2000 cals and lose that much weight. I thought I would have to practically starve myself to reach that goal!Advice about losing weight?
2000 calories is too much drop that down to about 15-1800 per day and you will see a weight loss of about 2 lbs per week. Be conscious of hidden calories from prepackaged food, added oil and butter and fried food. It is better to eat a balanced diet with a majority of your calories from fresh fruit and veg.

Incorporate cardio exercise and weights and you can lose even more weight faster. I lost 25 lbs in only 6wks by just exercising alone and not even dieting! It boosts your metabolism (ability to burn calories)

Don't get discourage I am also in the fight to lose weight and the best way to do it is the healthy way. Which is the slower way.Advice about losing weight?
I do believe there is a good website that will calculate all of that for you. I think it is called caloriecounter.com

Give it a try. Hope it tells you what you need to know.
If you're trying to lose weight, you need to subtract 500 hundred from that number, and that's how many calories you should eat a day.
u know im not the best advice giver but im on a diet too im trying to lose weight so far these things have worked

stop drinking soda even diet soda makes u crave sweets

whatever u eat drink water with it

if u can eat standing up

try and exercise at least 8 to 20 minutes a day

right now im so lazy im like 20 minutes!!! argh..

thats the real trick though is drink more water and work out

because when i was in school i was always running up and down the stairs to go to classes and i walked home from school

i was always on the move and since i graduated i have became really really lazy
1. The length of time depends on your activity level and your muscle tone. The more muscle you have, the faster you will burn calories. An average of 3-4 pounds per month is a reasonable expectation, with a possibility of more with more exercise.

2. Diets are hard to keep to, but lifestyle changes are relatively easy. Once you have an idea of what 2000 calories means, it will be easier. I have lost weight starving myself in the past, and it always came back. Usually the pounds that left came back and brought some friends. Sane eating and an active lifestyle have lasted longer for me. I'm not skinny, but I'm at a healthy weight.
Yes you will lose weight how long it takes will vary depending on your activity, health issues, and how long you have weight 225. 140 is not a realistic goal for someone who is 6' regardless of what the charts may say. Your first goal needs to be getting the weight moving, then just see where you are when you become healthy and comfortable with yourself.
