Any advice about the CSA?

I've got an 11 year old kid that I have always paid maintenance to through the CSA. I'm on a low income and bring home around 拢128. My partner moved in with me about 5 months ago and has been working for 3.

The CSA got onto me an told me that they wanted her work details which at first she didn't want to give. I got a letter from the CSA telling me that they had put in place a deduction of earnings order to the tune of 拢318 a month from my wages which is MASSIVELY more than I have been paying up to now.

When I contacted them they said that my new assessment was 拢32 per week out of 拢128 take home. Leaving me just 拢94 per week to pay my half of the rent and council tax (which adds up to 拢50 per week) leaving me just 拢44 per week to run a car (I live 10 miles away from work) and feed and clothe myself. On top of that they say I have 拢2,400 in arrears that they want paying off in 2 years, hence the assessment plus arrears makes up the 拢318 per month deduction from my earnings. Which leaves me with just 拢50 per week in my pocket to pay out my half of rent, council tax, car (which I need to work), food and clothes.

As I said before my half of the rent/council tax comes to 拢40 per week which leaves me with just 拢10 per week in my pocket to run a car, pay for my food etc.

I've been on to them and we've relented and given them my partner's work details as they say this is a ';penalty assessment'; and I'm waiting the outcome of that.

As for the arrears they say they have me down as doing a job that I haven't done for the past 8 years!

I'm really at the end of my tether now and sinking into stress and depression rapidly.

Surely it isn't my partner's job to support me when I'm working??
