Need advice about Betta?

His fin rot is severe enough to reach his body within 2 months

And Jungle wasn't working (3 months of medication...and then 1 month of nothing but clean water/salt)

Yesterday I bought maracyn TC

and I'm confused.

It's for 10 gallons

I have a 2 gallon tank

it's with a heater and a Whisper filter that doesn't give an option for turning the Carbon off.

He has a cave and silk trees and gravel

do I have to remove the filter cartridge so that it doesn't take the medicine? It says to let ';filtration and air'; continue in the tank but will it take the medicine with it?Need advice about Betta?
When it reaches the body, I've heard it can be extremely painful for the fishand the chances of coming back are slim. I always promised myself if my guys ever got that bad I'd put them out of their misery : (

That being said, sorry, try an emergency salt dip. This will kill any surface bacteria and fungi that is the root of this. If his finrot is this bad, you need to do this. Scoop him in the net and place in the salt dip solution for about ten seconds, then back in a clean house. Reapeat if he's not reacting badly.

Remove all his ';toys'; and flooring. Put him in a bowl or vase with the chemical maracyn treatment after the salt dip. Boil your rocks and anything that's not plastic. The plastic and the plants need to be cleaned, no soap!. Either soak in vinegar or lemon juice to kill the bacteria, as both are non toxic to fish, or see about getting your hands on a neutralizer. I use thiosulfate to neutralize bleach, so that I can thoroughly clean and disinfect everything. Fin rot can often reside in the rocks, so thourouglly cleaning them and not returning until he's healing is important.

He should have his temp upped to 80-84 degreess to help kill any bacteria in the water and on him. It will help relieve his stress and kill surface bacteria.

Also, add some of the aquarium salt to his current water, this will also help to relieve his stress and make the water less hospitable to bacteria, parasites and fungi.

I wouldnt turn the filter on at all as this water flow can upset them if too strong, and with most his fins gone he cant steer as well. The rot may also be in the filter media. Clean everything and toss the filter cartdrige. And yes, the carbon will remove any meds from the water, so if you do plug the filter in, remove the cartridge first.

Hope this helps, best of lcuk!Need advice about Betta?

if you ever need to use medication for your fish, always take the carbon out as it takes the medication out of the water, put the carbon back when you want the medication gone. :)
I would just try and help him out by putting him down, that way he don't have to deal with pain later on. But it is up to you!
remove carbon filter its stopping the meds from working
