Need advice about green iguanas?

I have taken a iguana from my 17 year old brother n law.He was not taking care of her at all. She has a knot on the side of her mouth. I have changed her bedding from wood to carpet. I saw mites in there so I have been giving her treatments. So im not sure if the knot is from the mites or what. I did see that when she was given crickets she would miss and get the bark instead. Should I take her to the vet or give it a couple of days to see if it goes away? I have also started to give her calcium and vitamins in witch she has never has any. He would only feed her 3 to 4 times a week. She now gets fead 2 times a day.Need advice about green iguanas?
Yes, take her to an experienced reptile vet. The knot may be from MBD, which is a serious disease that can be fatal if not treated. Here is a list of reptile vets if you don't know one http://www.herpvetconnection.com/

It is good you are feeding her two times a day, iguanas should be eating twice a day. However, iguanas should NEVER get any type of insect, meat, or rodent. They arer strictly herbivores, and can not handle the protein from insects; it causes their kidneys to shut down.

What UVB and supplements are you using? You MUST have a good UV source for these lizards. Here is a site to get MVB bulbs. http://www.reptileuv.com/ The MegaRay bulbs on that site are the best on the market. Plus they are heat and UVB all in one bulb. You must have a minimum of a 40 gallon tank to use a MVB bulb, but with an iguana you should have a MUCH larger cage anyway. You can contact Bob Mac through that site, and he is a reptile rehabilitator who will do what he can to help you.

For supplements, you need to regularly offer the iguana Repcal calcium powder, and Herptivite multi-vitamin powder on her ';salads';.

She should be eating greens and fruits. Some good greens are Collard greens, Mustard greens, Dandelion greens, and Turnip greens.

Here is a very good site on iguanas. There is a list of good iguana greens and veggies on there too. http://www.greenigsociety.org/

Good Luck!Need advice about green iguanas?
being she has been neglected, i would get a vet check. the knot is not normal. we have a 6 ft iguana who mostly eats fresh greens, veggies and fruits. he is also given a supplement called apple gel. the calcium is good, but do not over do it. you can get a lot of info on www.kingsnake.com. you need to be sure his lighting is good also. goodluck

from what I know.. at 1 yr of age they should only get bugs etc.. as treats and eat mostly veges and fruit.. that MIGHT be the problem

I would call a vet to see if you have one good with reptiles in your area and ask them over the phone how long to wait before bringing it in
ok look she needs to see a vet but the knot on her face is mostly a splinter (a piece of bark in her lip) other than that ther is no problem that i can see
No crickets Please Give it plenty of UV light a take ti to the vet . It sounds like it has metabolic bone disease from the lump on its

jaw line
