I want to get into an Intel jobI'm 28 years old with a family and thinking about joining the Army? advice?
Are you wanting to do active duty, or be part of a reserve component? As a person with a family, you might want to think about the stability that being part of the Reserves or Army National Guard would offer. You don't get involuntarily transferred from base to base; you transfer when you want to.
That said, if you join a reserve component, you will most likely be deployed for a year or so, away from your family, at some point. I will have to leave my wife behind when my unit goes to Iraq in Oct., so I can understand how that might feel. If you feel a call to arms, and feel it is your duty, however--I encourage you to do it. Thank you for your interest in joining up, and I wish you the best.I'm 28 years old with a family and thinking about joining the Army? advice?
Don't, join the Air Force they also have intel and they are a much better branch if you want to SEE the family you have.
Stay home and take care of your family.
